There is a quotation by Sholem Asch that says: “Writing comes easily if you have something to say”! It may be true in every case actually, that writing does come easily when people have something to say. But what really drives one to write is inspiration perhaps. A small question answer survey in one of the social networks revealed that people write for different reasons – some write because they have a let out in the form of words on paper, some more write because they like to share what they know, some write for passion and some more write because they have to. But writing has more to do with inspiration than having something to say. Writing is a phenomenon of the heart that acts through the mind in the form of words.
What Is Creativity
A desire to write and some innate ability to give shape to thought in the form of words, can give rise to amazing pieces in writing. This is what is termed creativity.
Writing Better
Writing comes with desire and creativity. And writing better comes with something called perseverance. This perseverance pays off hugely in the long-run if it is directed towards better writing, improving writing skills and language.
Where Does It Come From
Writing means differently to different people. To some it is passion, while to others it is profession. A passion always comes out of the heart. A profession or a duty comes out of the mind. It is better to perceive something as a passion and give it full enthusiasm, than perceiving it as a duty and giving it only half of oneself.
Wait For Inspiration
Inspiration comes spontaneously, without notice. After all, there is a reason it is called Inspiration. Do not search for inspiration. It just happens. One cannot plan to get inspired. One just gets inspired. It is something that happens out of thin air. But it is advised that one waits for inspiration to come and only then put mind over matter, because that is when passion overrides profession.
Seek Advice
Whether you are a budding writer or an accomplished one, there are always more accomplished persons than you; that’s a fact. Have an open mind and seek advice from other experienced writers. Even if a writer has less number of years of experience than you, you could still learn a lot from his or her own experiences. It helps if you have an open mind and an equally open heart.
Read What You Write
It is always important to proof read what you wrote, before taking the final step. This not only helps you find mistakes or inappropriate words and sentences, but also gives you an idea of how active your piece is or could be.
