Textbroker is a relatively new content site for freelance writers. Depending on the writer's ability, one could earn a steady income through Textbroker.
Textbroker Registration process
Go to the Textbroker website and sign up for a new account. Upon receiving the confirmation e-mail to activate the new account, applicants are asked to complete a sample writing assignment. The writing assignment consists of no less than an 120-word article on one of four pre-selected article topics.
After submitting the article, the Textbroker team grades the article and rates it in a scale of one to five; one being the least desirable number and five being excellent. Most applicants score between 2 and 4.
How Freelance Writers Select Assignments with Textbroker
Assignment selectability is directly related to the writers Textbroker rating. Writers may only select assignments of corresponding levels. In other words, if a freelance writer earns a Textbroker rating of 3, she may only select level 3 assignments and lower. Those writers who achieve a level 5 rating may select assignments from all five levels.
As the reader may guess, pay scale varies in accordance with the writing level. The higher the rating, the higher the assignment pays. While there are not always assignments available at all levels, it's in the applicant's best interest to achieve and maintain a level 5.
Once the assignment is completed, the writer uploads the article to the Textbroker site and waits for approval (or editing if needed). After each assignment is accepted, the client gets to rate the writer's work on a scale of 1 to 5. Since writers get rated after each completed assignment, the writer's rating level can increase or decrease (and affect the income earning potential accordingly).
How Textbroker Pays Writers
After the assignment is completed and accepted, payment is placed in the writers Textbroker account. Textbroker pays their writers once a month via PayPal when the writer's balance exceeds $10. Writers must request payment from Texttbroker by the 5th of the month. Balances left in the Textbroker account beyond the fifth of the month are rolled over to the following month.
Why Textbroker is Good for New Writers
Textbroker is a great way for new writers to get their feet wet when it comes to writing content and accepting editor critique. While the payout for the articles is not exceedingly high, it is a great way to for new writers to cut their writing teeth and get paid at the same time. The downside to Textbroker is that it's only available to US writers.
